The New Flab Jab

The New Flab Jab

By Catherine Scullion

If you can pinch more than an inch, fear not, for help is at hand. A new procedure based on injections of bile could provide an alternative slimming solution to painful liposuction treatments.

The syringe-filler for this flab-busting treatment is PCDC, a solution containing bile salt which breaks down fat and allows patients to lose up to half an inch of their waistline per injection.

‘But how does it work?’ I hear you cry. The answer: no-one knows. Although the mysterious PCDC is available from a number of clinics, and delightfully marketed as the ‘flab jab,’ it is not yet approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and the president of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery refuses to endorse it. “We need to have proof before, in good conscience, we can recommend it to more patients," he says.

So if you’re tempted by this new and frankly quite dicey method of fat control, you’ve been warned. Yes, it’s less effort than a trip to the gym, but is it really worth risking dissolving your internal organs just to avoid the treadmill?
